About

photo by Josiah PughI was born in Bryan, Texas to my mother Roberta Ann Pugh and my father James Richard Pugh August 14th, 1984. My father died regrettably when I was just 3 years old. My mother raised both my younger brother Jameson and I with the help of both family houses. A stubborn child, I refused to learn to read until the 3rd grade where I came across a fantastic teacher who made reading fun. By the time I reached the 8th grade my reading skills excelled to that of a high school junior’s. Talkative as a child, I was told I spoke too much and when I stopped speaking people said I spoke barely enough. Computers became a integral part of my life by the age of 13. At the age of 14 I was creating my first digital art and web designs with a Power Mac G3 my mother bought me to use in high school. I excelled well at teaching myself everything that I know about computers and digital art. I expanded my knowledge and graduated from high school in 2002. From there I attended Texas A&M University and was to major in Philosophy. It was here that I met my soulmate Shannon and became encapsulated by anime & DDR all in one fateful year. Although I enjoyed philosophy very much I decided college was not appropriate for that time of my life and spending vasts amount of money for a piece of paper was unacceptable. My Aunt Mary talked me into joining the Army where I learned the trade of a photographer and videographer. And so, here I am, presently existing in South Korea with the U.S. Army somewhere between this state of consciousness and the next in a place I like to call Dreamland.

Inspiration

Photography, for me, is about capturing a split instant of beauty. Once that instant is gone, it will never come again. I enjoy photographing the small details that seem to escape the eyes of everyday viewers. For me, photography is art. I'm always telling myself to try new angles, new perspectives and most importantly to never take an ordinary photo.
